Attention 5th-8th Graders! Show Your Community Spirit And You Could Win A Youth Power And Hope Award!
Do your parents live on electric co-op lines in Indiana?
Are you active in your community through church, Girl/Boy Scouts, school or other organizations/activities?
If this describes you, enter the 2010 Youth Power and Hope Awards Contest!
The contest, sponsored by Electric Consumer — the statewide publication of Indiana’s electric cooperatives — gives YOU, the youth of Indiana, the chance to shine by honoring your commitment to community.
Last year’s winners served their communities in many ways including collecting shampoo for women’s prison inmates, helping clean up after a major area flood, completing 320 hours of community service, volunteering at a local animal shelter, and by raising $38,000 for the American Cancer Society! Miss America 2009 Katie Stam was even on hand for a special luncheon and to present the awards to the winners during a ceremony in Indianapolis.
Ready to enter? Download the entry form and guidelines pdf at the right and tell us how you’re serving your community. Contest deadline is Friday, Sept. 10.
Keep reading Electric Consumer as well for more updates and details on the contest as they become available. We will also have the latest information and contest details posted on our website. You, or your parents, can also find out more on Electric Consumer’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
Winners will travel to Indianapolis this November to be recognized for their achievements and to attend a program in their honor with a special guest, among other highlights.
