May 2009 That Reminds Me
Pick your 'faves'
by Emily Schilling Editor
I admit: I’m a closet critic. No, I don’t critique closets — well, actually, let’s be honest: most women I know are obsessed with having the biggest closet imaginable (and fantasize about having oodles of free shoes to put in there!).
No, I mean I have my own very specific opinions on the best eateries, the best places to shop for specific items, the best products, the best of everything. And, I’ve got my other list — my “no way” list reserved for those places, products or experiences that were less than satisfactory. My memory about those negative situations is very vivid, proving it’s difficult to dismiss a bad experience. I’m not unlike the rest of you who have your own ideas and aren’t shy about sharing them.
That’s why we’re pleased to announce the return of our “Best of Indiana” feature in which we invite you to cast your votes for your favorites in eight categories. It’s been four years since we asked you about your top picks and we figured this was a good time to query you again.
In years past, you’ve told us about your favorite family getaway, restaurant, scenic drive and sporting event, among many other categories. Some of your picks were clear cut favorites. Other times, your opinions were all over the board — giving us a feel for a wide variety of things that make Indiana great.
We think we have an interesting mix of categories sure to inspire your comments. One category I’m particularly fond of is the “best place to go for a tenderloin.” Many restaurants I’ve been to have claimed that title — I’m awaiting your recommendations to see who Hoosiers really think is worthy of that recognition!
A category we are featuring again is “best encounter with an electric cooperative service/employee.” Comments from our last survey indicated many of you appreciate the many ways those at your local electric co-op go above and beyond to assist you. Your stories were heartwarming and gave us all a reason to be proud of the caliber of professionals among our ranks who truly take customer service to heart.
Deadline to send in your Best of Indiana entry form (or e-mail us your picks to ec@indremcs.org) is May 31. We’ll randomly draw three entries (filled in with at least four “best of” picks) to win cash prizes. I’m looking forward to hearing from you — and seeing if your opinions match mine!
